PRESS RELEASE

Tide Rises for Unifiedroot as TLD Marketplace Matures

Amsterdam, __ February 2012  – Unifiedroot, a privately held technology company based in Amsterdam, finds itself well positioned as the new Top-Level Domain (TLD) marketplace heats up. Now that ICANN has opened their TLD application process businesses are scrambling to find a strategy in this new arena. Unifiedroot, with their own independent root server system, is recognized as the only viable alternative to ICANN for businesses looking to secure a TLD of their own.

“We are delighted with the inquiries we are receiving from companies I can only describe as trailblazers.” says Erik Seeboldt, Managing Director of Unifiedroot, “I think we have found our niche with companies that have innovative business plans for TLDs that are time sensitive as well as those with budgets more in tune with supporting marketing and promotion rather than costly application / registration fees.”

Under the Hood

Unifiedroot is ready to go for companies that want to speed down the Internet highway using new TLDs. Once an application is received by Unifiedroot, a custom-made TLD can be up and running in 45 days. Registry and registrar services can be outsourced to world class technical partners of Unifiedroot. The Unifiedroot root server system exists in parallel to ICANN’s. To facilitate seamless browsing between these two platforms Unifiedroot has developed an Internet browser called “Sundial” to recognize all TLDs from ICANN and Unifiedroot (free download available on: www.sundialbrowser.com ).

Security and Stability of the Internet

Unifiedroot is careful not to cause conflict with TLDs registered at ICANN. Unifiedroot does not allow a party to register a TLD that already exists at ICANN and it advises ICANN of all new TLDs registered on Unifiedroot’s root server system.

Down the Pipeline

In addition to being IPv6 ready and supporting Non-Latin alphabet based Domain Names (IDNs), Unifiedroot is dedicated to the pursuit of enhanced security features. Exciting developments will soon be coming on stream with apps designed specifically for smartphones and tablet computers.

Pressrelease  Unifiedroot

Date 06 / 20 / 2011

ICANN has announced today that it will allow brand- and company names to be registered as a Top Level Domain (TLD). It will soon be possible to register .apple, .sony or .coke. Instead of using www.apple.com  <http://www.apple.com/ >  , companies could now use www.home.apple  <http://www.home.apple/ > . It is no longer necessary to maintain a (country code) domain name in every country around the globe (i.e. www.apple.us  <http://www.apple.us/ > ; www.apple.co.uk  <http://www.apple.co.uk/ > , www.apple.de  <http://www.apple.de/ >  etc.).

Like ICANN, Unifiedroot also deploys its own IPV6 compliant root infrastructure. Unifiedroot has developed an Internet web browser (Sundial) which seamlessly recognizes all TLD’s from both ICANN and Unifiedroot.

Since 2005, parties have been registering TLDs with Unifiedroot. Unifiedroot has informed ICANN of each of these registrations.

Unifiedroot is uniquely positioned to take advantage of this new approach by ICANN:

1) You can start using your company or brand name immediately;

2) You can register specific generic TLDs  like .music or .game;

3) You pay a fraction of the cost compared to ICANN;

4) You can register names in non-Latin scripts.

Our lawyers have indicated that companies that register and start using a TLD from Unifiedroot now will be in a favorable position to defend their rights and prevent an identical TLD from being registered with ICANN.
